The Netherlands

Spring is here and I will start with two waterfalls in pools along with my usual pond startups.

Woodland Beaconsfield

rebuilding a waterfall built by another landscaper

Before

tearing apart...

rebuilding...

testing..

We'll be putting in a larger pump next year, to increase flow.

2008

 I was doing some of little jobs,

creating a waterfall and steps down to a creek that I dammed;

and now building a Japanese Garden , a slate front staircase and  driveway

here are the stones for the staircase;

 The wall is finished so here we go.

all natural slate-stone from Nova Scotia;

another stone exactly like the bottom one still has to be placed as a bridge over the ditch.

The walkway will be the same Classico brick that was there originally.

The Japanese Garden;  here is a sketch; the stones for the walks are a bit bigger than in the sketch and no gazebo in the corner , so I put a stone bench.

before and during; moving in the stones

finished except for planting;

and at the same time redo the  driveway with exposed aggregate with slate inlays,

 this is being done with BetonUnique

the forming is ready

We had to wait a week because we needed 2-3 confirmed days without a chance of rain!

next expose the aggregate and wait for the concrete to cure and then treat with acid!.

adding the slate

.

Next ,  finishing the front walk and Japanese garden

The brickwork around the front door is being redone and now I will finish the planting and grass.

Image-01 (Medium).JPG (91488 bytes)

 And of course this brick work is done in SLATE! all cut to measure:

Note the "bridge" is in slate as well as the steps

And I'll be adding a "MOONGATE" made out of slate sometime late this fall!

next

We tore apart, expanded rebuilt and  this pond built by another landscaper

and added one of my trademark waterfalls!

here you have a before picture and after I removed all the stone

(since the sides were too steep and high  the stone all slipped to the bottom and made the pond too small)

Next picture shows the wall and new beginning an then digging the pond and stoning it.. With the hot sun we needed to put up a sun screen to cool us down.

almost finished now to build the rock-garden around the stream.

finished for now

I have to go back and do a Zen garden late this fall.

NEXT

laval

In a tight corner beside the pool,

 we will remove a section of the patio and create an other sight and sound experience;

because the corner is so narrow I'm using pressure treated lumber to get the maximum out of this of space;

building the waterfall;

testing

planting

Still some touch-ups and more planting but 99.9% finished.

Next; also Laval

a pondless waterfall with bridge giving the appearance that it falls into the swimming pool!

before; plants just removed.

just a bit of soil and some planting and another one finished;

the next project;

It has four pumps!

here is where the ponds and waterfall go;

\

week one; digging

week two; Placing the rock and walls,

Very important...the waterfall stone makes or breaks the water-garden!

this stone is 2 tons of natural history!

week three; building rock-garden and placing edging:

Week Four; filling pond  and Planting Rock-garden:

here is a panorama view;

Week 5....finished:

 the customer is doing the brick work and planting beds himself;

fountain at night

The season is over,  they seem shorter every year,

after a week in Cuba and one in Las Vegas, I come back to snow and the skiing is great!

have a look at what they look like in the winter;

but not running;

I shut the one above because the customer was going away but below,

 the water is still running under the ice and snow, plus the sound is there:

december march 27, still running;

some of you requested to see photos of the farm, here are some winter shot of where I ski;

and my deer Dolly, unfortunately she did not survive the winter, it was too harsh;

What a winter we are having, it reminds me of the winters we had when I was a kid, the snow is piled so high,

 but maybe I was shorter then.
