Welcome to 2006

2006; was a wet and frustrating year, I lost almost 2 months because of bad weather, and that's a lot if you only have 7 good months to work with to start with.

Rebuilt a "tiny" (for me) waterfall into a pool;

HPIM1325_edited.JPG (537103 bytes)

 Also I had to re-surface a front step:

HPIM1462 (Medium).JPG (92951 bytes)

with ledge-rock giving it the old fashioned look!

All the rain doesn't help, except for the planting, I'm about a month behind! and I'll never catch up!

building a screen in a forest:

St Lazare

Building a mountain:

follow the winding road

building a mountain (Large).JPG (165797 bytes)

This is a weekend job so it moves along slowly....rocks for the back wall, some the size of my truck!

HPIM1273 (Medium).JPG (107236 bytes)  HPIM1289 (Medium).JPG (120990 bytes)  HPIM1291 (Medium).JPG (106398 bytes)

with all this rain things had come to a halt, we had to wait until the soil dried out, or else we would destroy the soil structure. Now building the stream, 2 pumps will be used to supply the water flow.

HPIM1392.JPG (51735 bytes)

coming along

HPIM1418 (Medium).JPG (127474 bytes)  HPIM1417 (Medium).JPG (125920 bytes)

slow but sure, we borrowed the bring from the pond for the photos

HPIM1420 (Medium).JPG (126589 bytes)  HPIM1421 (Medium).JPG (77909 bytes)

next weekend we build a new bridge and add plants

HPIM1447 (Medium).JPG (128405 bytes)

the sound is soooo soothing, with plants you just want to hang around.

HPIM1470 (Large).JPG (217635 bytes)  HPIM1471 (Large).JPG (119306 bytes)  Reina at Werbitts (Large).JPG (239378 bytes)

Next the gazebo, which is be built on top of the hill.

Baie D'Urfé

A large water feature beside a new pool;

before, the customer had tried to build it himself, but the liner has to under the rocks to make it work.

HPIM1215 (Medium).JPG (127562 bytes) Photoshop worked photo to show how it could look;

So we had to tear it apart and rebuild; a waterfall with a pond and a bog.

HPIM1330.JPG (53572 bytes)  HPIM1331.jpg (91441 bytes)

Here you can see the echo chamber:

HPIM1396 (Medium).JPG (105439 bytes)  HPIM1397 (Medium).JPG (113436 bytes)

again, I also had to build a small mountain behind it to justify having a waterfall and stream

HPIM1398 (Medium).JPG (108015 bytes)  HPIM1401 (Medium).JPG (146919 bytes)

building the stream above the waterfall;

HPIM1423 (Medium).JPG (130264 bytes)  HPIM1443 (Medium).JPG (147198 bytes)

I use 2x8 to frame the stream;

 HPIM1427 (Medium).JPG (67585 bytes)  HPIM1444 (Medium).JPG (75369 bytes)  HPIM1461 (Medium).JPG (72346 bytes)  HPIM1464 (Medium).JPG (86919 bytes)

what it looks like from a distance;

HPIM1467 (Large).JPG (175208 bytes).

Next we enlarge the pond on the other side;

But the customer puts a wrench in the works, they want to increase the size of the patio between the pool and the pond. That means getting large heavy flat rocks (for stability) and building a wall (for security) in the water. You will get the feeling that the water flows under you. This side of the pond is more than 4.5 feet deep. He wants to snorkel in it!

HPIM1479 (Medium).JPG (105577 bytes)  HPIM1480 (Medium).JPG (115320 bytes)  HPIM1478 (Medium).JPG (113551 bytes)

Finished, the pond is a bit cloudy but that will clear up in a few days

HPIM1487 (Medium).JPG (131147 bytes)  HPIM1489 (Medium).JPG (99874 bytes)

The customer has already put in more than a dozen koi and goldfish 1 day after filling,  only the bridge is missing;

HPIM1488 (Medium).JPG (135815 bytes)

a day or 2 to clear-up the pond and voila:

 HPIM1493 (Medium).JPG (133000 bytes)  HPIM1496 (Medium).JPG (88240 bytes)  HPIM1504 (Large).JPG (172745 bytes)

August.... Jobs;

   waterfalls into  pools:

Papas; waterfall in tight corner

HPIM1452 (Medium).JPG (98155 bytes)

  HPIM1505 (Medium).JPG (122281 bytes)

HPIM1510 (Medium).JPG (65047 bytes)  HPIM1515 (Medium).JPG (87751 bytes)

 HPIM1532 (Medium).JPG (108440 bytes)   HPIM1531 (Medium).JPG (123966 bytes)

only the planting to do.

HPIM1542 (Medium).JPG (122019 bytes)  HPIM1540 (Medium).JPG (121842 bytes)

next Robert;

 waterfall to hide "Pumphouse" the pool deck was reinforced to support the rocks;

  HPIM1477 (Medium).JPG (133371 bytes)   HPIM1512 (Medium).JPG (110528 bytes)

now building:

  HPIM1524 (Medium).JPG (116093 bytes)   HPIM1528 (Medium).JPG (106651 bytes)

building the wall in the back and stairs on right side

HPIM1533 (Medium).JPG (112046 bytes)

the customer would like two waterfalls...so...I played around and and voila; a "leak" in my rock wall

testing

HPIM1535 (Medium).JPG (112770 bytes)  HPIM1537 (Medium).JPG (123024 bytes)

this job is literally going to the dogs!

HPIM1539 (Medium).JPG (115127 bytes)

all the hard landscape is done

HPIM1551 (Medium).JPG (119461 bytes)

only the planting is left

HPIM1555 (Medium).JPG (118536 bytes)  HPIM1556 (Medium).JPG (132719 bytes)

there you are another one finished

an animated shot

I finished the year with some tree plantings and conventional landscaping

because of the unpredictable weather.

Also the maintenance on my tree farm is keeping me busy.

That's it for 2006,

 Next year;  I have 2 waterfalls into pools to tear down and rebuild,

and another front entrance.

HPIM1575 (Medium).JPG (151404 bytes)

In the meantime I have some serious skiing to do

and travelling.. Cuba , Las Vegas, Orlando and Holland.
