Hudson Trenholme
In the summer of 2001
this customer
asked me to "rebuild"
his creek so that it
would hold water all year
long and contain a waterfall
that he could see from his house some 100 feet away.
So we removed all the rocks and pebbles that were there
and washed them keeping them for later.
We redug the pond much deeper and used
the excavation to support a rockgarden and
waterfall filterbox facing the house.
We built a dike with an overflow for spring
put in a rubber liner and replaced the
rocks and added more.
The first picture was from before
and it didn't look to bad, but we really
improved it and the sound of water was able to travel
easily to the house and even could be heard inside.
We needed height and a good reflecting wall to direct the sound.
One photo shows my daughter checking it out,
note how much of the wall of stone that gets buried in the water
In 2002 we went back and added a bridge and arbour
Finished 1 year later:
